For a relatively young nation, Australia has more than its fair share of events and celebrations. Whether it’s a sombre Anzac Day march through the heart of Sydney’s CBD, or a barbecue under the sun at Bondi Beach, one thing’s clear—Australian’s place tremendous value on coming together as a community.
Some of the events and celebrations were inherited from other nations, while others were conceived in Australia. In each case, they all maintain qualities which make them distinctly Australian, providing a unique look into the cultural quirks that make Australia the globally renowned nation it is today.
Sydney Metro College regularly monitors your course progress and attendance to ensure you are progressing successfully in your course. Should your attendance or course progress drop below acceptable levels, the college will contact you and intervene so you are able to overcome any obstacles you may be facing. Please refer to the SMC Student Handbook to find who can support.
Joining groups associated with your home community can be a good way of finding support in Australia, making new friends, learning more about yourself. There are many ways you can join a community group, for instance where you live they have groups formed already, or in your institutions you can join a club or social activities, you can even create a group yourself and post up adds for anyone interested.

The transport options available in Australia include buses, trains, trams and ferries. Sydney Metro College is located at Level 2, 16-22 Wentworth Avenue, Surry Hills NSW, 2010 in Sydney (5 minutes from museum train station), which is within the Sydney CBD and is easily accessible through a range of efficient public transport options ( Train and Bus) and at level 2, 213-215 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 in Melbourne, at a close proximity to transport and restaurants, cafes and other facilities.

Getting a visa
If you wish to visit Australia for study, work or live in Australia, you will need to apply for, and be granted, an appropriate visa.
Having an Australian bank account will ensure that you have easy access to your money to pay for your accommodation, tuition fees and living expenses, and will allow your employer to deposit pay into your account if you choose to work.
If you are an international student, you must be covered by OSHC from when you arrive in Australia and for the entire duration of your stay, in line with Condition 8501 of your student visa.
