We have intakes for every month throughout the year for both Sydney and Melbourne Campus. 

Entry Requirements


Students must be over 18 years of age,

Student must have successfully completed Year 12 or higher in Australia or overseas

Students must have either an overall IELTS score of 5.5, PTE (Pearson Test of English) score of 42 or equivalent

Entry requirements will be checked at enrollment in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrolment and orientation policy.

At SMC, our International students are expected to meet minimum English Language requirements in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrollment and orientation policy. Student are also required to complete Identify Learners Needs Form to complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy analysis for each student before relevant corrective actions are implemented.

Course Structure and Mode of Delivery

This qualification will be delivered over 52 weeks, including 40 weeks of training and assessment spread over 4 terms of 10 weeks each and 12 weeks of holidays.

There are Seven (7) core units and thirteen (13) elective units are required for the award of the ICT40120 Certificate IV in Information Technology.

Total of 13.5 hours per week of classroom based face-to-face learning and 6.5 hours of online learning delivered through SMC e-learning platform based on Moodle i.e., total of 20 hours per week.

Assessments

The online study component requires students to have access to a computer with an internet connection. Students will have access to classrooms with computers, computer labs and laptops on campus. Computers include access to the internet, current web browser, and the software capability to submit assignments. They will also be able to use their own computer resources off campus.

Students are provided with access to Moodle Learning Management System to access training and assessment material such as Learner Guides, PowerPoint Presentations and videos, and assessment tasks.

If using their own computer students will require a computer that has:

Windows, Mac OS X, Linux
Internet Explorer 7+, Safari, Firefox, Chrome browser
Adobe Acrobat Reader
Adobe Flash Player 10.3+. Visit Adobe website to get the latest version
Ideally, access to Broadband – 64 Kbit/sec or faster.

Students will also need to ensure that:

They have disabled popup blocking software (some courses require popups)
Cookies have been enabled in their browser

Assessment Methods

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and includes:

Reports

Plays/observations

Course Credit

You can apply for recognition of existing qualifications or skills, knowledge and experience (credit transfer
or recognition of prior learning). If you are granted course credit, this will affect your course fees as well as the duration of your course. We will advise you in writing of changes to fees or course duration as a result of the credit. You will also be
issued with a new Confirmation of Enrolment.

Students who complete this course may wish to continue their education into the ICT50120 Diploma of Information Technology or into a range of other Diploma level qualifications.
