  1. Research Assistant – With an understanding of academic writing and research, students can assist in academic research projects.
  2. Lecturer or Tutor – EAP graduates who go on to complete higher education may pursue teaching roles in academic institutions.
  3. Academic Editor/Proofreader – Providing editing services for academic papers, theses, and articles.
  4. Content Writer for Educational Platforms – Writing or editing educational content, articles, or study materials for online platforms.
  5. Curriculum Developer – Developing educational materials, guides, and courses for academic institutions.

Moreover, completing an EAP course often leads to better career prospects, especially in global organizations that require employees with high-level English language proficiency for international communication.

After completing an English for Academic Purposes course, students typically follow one of the following pathways:

  1. University or College Admission – EAP courses are often a prerequisite for students who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate studies at an English-speaking institution. They ensure students can handle academic content and participate in lectures and discussions.
  2. Further Language Development – Some students may wish to continue refining their language skills by pursuing specialized English programs such as Business English.
  3. Vocational Training – For students interested in vocational studies, the EAP course provides them with the academic language skills to succeed in training programs.
  4. Professional Certification Programs – After completing an EAP course, students may move forward to take professional certifications that require strong academic English, such as certifications in IT, engineering, or law.

Students who complete an EAP program are well-prepared for higher education and the professional world, particularly for roles requiring the ability to understand and produce academic-level English.

To enrol in an English for Academic Purposes course, students must typically meet the following entry requirements:

  1. Age – Applicants are usually required to be at least 16 years old. If you intend to take higher education studies a minimum age requirement of 18 years.
  2. English Proficiency – Students are expected to have a basic to intermediate level of English proficiency, typically ranging from A2 to B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). This is assessed through a placement test or proof of previous English language study.
  3. Educational Background – No formal academic qualifications may be required for entry, although students should have completed secondary school or an equivalent level of education.
  4. Visa Requirements – International students will need a student visa to enrol.

We provide preparatory English language courses such as General English for students who do not meet the necessary proficiency requirements for direct entry into an EAP program.

The course duration can be flexible, with some programs offering a shorter study period depending on your individual circumstances and visa status.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) acknowledges the skills and knowledge a student has acquired through previous education, work, or life experiences. In the context of an EAP course, RPL allows students to gain recognition for their existing academic language skills, which may reduce the time or requirements needed to complete the course.

To apply for RPL, students need to demonstrate their prior learning, which may include:

  • Previous Academic English Qualifications – Evidence of prior completion of English language courses or standardized tests like IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English exams.
  • Work Experience – Examples of using English in an academic or professional context, such as conducting research, writing reports, or preparing presentations.
  • Assessments – We may offer an assessment process (like an interview, essay submission, or written test) to determine a student's current level of academic English.

RPL is subject to SMC policies and ensures that students are placed in the appropriate level of study while maintaining academic standards.
