This qualification reflects the role of individuals working in accounting and seeking professional recognition, including tax agents, accounts managers and business analysts; and to employees performing a range of accounts management tasks for organisations in a range of industries. At this level individual are expected to apply theoretical and technical skills in a range of situations and to display initiative and judgement in planning activities. They have autonomy in performing complex operations and can be responsible for planning, coordinating and evaluating the work of others within broad but generally well-defined parameters.

Important Information

  • Note that the sequence of unit delivery may vary. A timetable with your allocated units for each term will be provided at the beginning of the term.
  • To successfully complete the qualification, a total of 14 units must be completed including 3 Core units and 11 Elective units as listed above.
  • Course entry requirement:  Student must have completed FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting or its superseded version FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting or equivalent provided the unit BSBTEC402 Design and Produce Complex spreadsheet is completed by those seeking to enrol.

General Entry Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Successfully completed Year 12 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Participate in a course entry interview to assess suitability and individual learning needs.

English Language Requirements

To demonstrate English proficiency, students must meet one of the following:

  • IELTS (Academic) score of 5.5, with no band lower than 5.0 (or an equivalent test result, such as PTE or TOEFL, taken within the last two years).
  • Completion of at least five years of education in an English-speaking country.
  • Successful completion of an English Placement Test conducted by Sydney Metro College.

Qualification Entry Requirement

Prior to commencing this qualification an individual must have completed the following qualifications (or equivalent).

  • FNS50222 Diploma of Accounting; or its superseded version FNS50217 Diploma of Accounting or equivalent, provided the listed elective unit BSBTEC402 Design and produce complex spreadsheets (or equivalent) has been completed by those seeking to enrol.

This qualification will be delivered over 104 weeks, including 72 weeks of training and assessment spread over 8 terms of 9 weeks each and 32 weeks of holidays.

This program is delivered in the classroom and through structured online study on Moodle.
