HLTAID011 Provide First Aid is the nationally recognised qualification that equips learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond to common first aid situations.
This course meets Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines and is suitable for anyone needing first aid certification for work, volunteering, study, or personal preparedness.
The course includes CPR training, use of an AED, managing injuries, responding to medical emergencies, and applying first aid procedures in a range of situations.
This qualification is required for people working or seeking work in industries such as:

This course includes:
1. Mandatory Online Pre-Course Learning
Before attending the 1-day practical session, students must complete the required online module, which covers theoretical first-aid knowledge.
This is a training package requirement for HLTAID011 and is necessary to ensure adequate preparation before practical assessment.
Estimated completion time: 3–6 hours (self-paced).
2. Face-to-Face Practical Training (1 Day)
Students will complete:
• Practical first aid demonstrations
• Simulated scenarios
• CPR performance on adult/child/infant manikins
• AED operation
• Wound care, bleeding control, bandaging
• Asthma and anaphylaxis management
• Recovery position
Assessment Requirements (Training Package Compliant)
To be deemed competent in HLTAID011, students must complete both:
Knowledge Assessment
Completed via online learning + in-class questioning:
• Multiple-choice questions
• Short-answer questions
• Demonstration of understanding of legal, WHS, and emergency procedures
Practical Skills Assessment
Students must demonstrate ability to:
• Perform 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on adult & infant manikins on the floor
• Use an AED correctly
• Provide first aid in at least 3 simulated scenarios
• Perform bandaging and bleeding control
• Manage unconscious casualty using recovery position
• Communicate effectively and call emergency services
All assessments must be completed individually, in English, and without outside assistance, per RTO Standards 2025 requirements for fair, valid, reliable assessment.
To enrol, students must:
• Provide valid photo ID on the day of training
• Be physically able to kneel on the floor and perform CPR for at least 2 minutes (mandatory for HLTAID011)
• Complete mandatory LLND assessment (minimum benchmark required)
• Have a USI (Unique Student Identifier)
• Complete the required online pre-course module before attending class
Physical Requirements: Students must be able to kneel and perform CPR on the floor. If you have a temporary or permanent injury, please contact us before booking to discuss reasonable adjustments.
Language, Literacy, Numeracy & Digital (LLND) Requirements
All courses are delivered in English. Students require the ability to:
• Read and interpret first aid instructions and safety information
• Communicate clearly in an emergency
• Write brief incident notes
• Use a computer or mobile device for online learning
On enrolment, students complete an LLND screening tool. If a student scores below benchmark, our team will contact them to discuss support options and additional support requirements.
