This qualification comprises units that will teach you the skills and knowledge needed to pursue roles in case management and specialized tasks in aged care services. From developing and implementing service programs to the implementation of community development strategies, the units assigned will help you gain insights into the community services industry and develop useful transferable skills. Support workers in this field are accountable for their own performance within established organizational guidelines, ensuring quality service delivery by developing, facilitating, and reviewing individualized service plans and delivery, whether in residential, home, or community-based settings.

We have intakes for every month throughout the year for both Sydney and Melbourne Campus. 

Entry Requirements


Students must be over 18 years of age,

Students must have completed an overseas equivalent of Year 12 or higher qualification.

Students must have either an IELTS score of 5.5 total or above with no band lower than 5.0 or equivalent.

Entry requirements will be checked at enrollment in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrolment and orientation policy.

At SMC, our International students are expected to meet minimum English Language requirements in line with the RTO’s Student entry requirements, selection, enrollment and orientation policy. Student are also required to complete Identify Learners Needs Form to complete the Language, Literacy and Numeracy analysis for each student before relevant corrective actions are implemented.

Course Structure and Mode of Delivery

There are Total of 18 Units including 15 Core units and 3 Electives for CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support plus a total of 20 units including 12 core and 8 Electives for CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services. Which will ammount to 143 weeks / 11 Terms / 2.11 years for package course (CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support, 52 weeks i.e. 3 Terms of 10 weeks and 1 Term of 14 weeks plus up to 8 weeks (2 weeks each Term) of Term breaks plus CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services, 91 weeks i.e. 7 Term of 10 weeks, s plus up to 21 weeks (3 weeks each Term) of Term breaks( Click here to go to E-Learning site ).

For CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support , following 18 units need to be completed. These include 15 core units and 3 elective units as per training package requirements:

For CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services (Case Management) , following 20 units need to be completed. These include 12 core units and 8 elective units as per training package requirements:

A credit transfer is applied for 2 Core units and 2 Electives for the CHC52021 Diploma of Community Services.

Assessments

Assessment Methods

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outlined in our policies and procedures. Assessment requires achievement across all tasks to demonstrate competence and includes:


Direct observation i.e., simulated off-the-job situation that reflects the workplace.

Product based methods i.e., reports, displays, work samples, role plays, and presentations.

Portfolio i.e., written documents, photographs, videos or logbooks.

Questioning i.e., written or oral questioning, conducting interviews and questionnaires.

Course Credit
